Aurora privacy policy
Aurora has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads and no tracking cookies. Your progress lives on your own device. This page lists everything the game stores and everything it sends.
Who is responsible
EisaiPollis Games (Demetris Loizides), Cyprus, is the controller for the little data described here. Contact details are at the end of this page.
What stays on your device
The game writes these to your browser's local storage (or the app's own storage on Android). They are never uploaded to us.
- Your progress: which chambers you have solved, your best move counts and stars, across three save slots.
- Your settings: volume, music on or off, haptics, colour-blind mode, animation and control options.
- A session flag: a single value in session storage that remembers you have already pressed "begin" in this tab. It is cleared when you close the tab.
- An offline copy of the game: the web version installs a service worker that caches the game's own files so it can start without a connection.
Clearing your browser's site data, or the app's data on Android, deletes all of it, including your saves. We cannot recover a deleted save because we never had a copy.
What is sent over the network
- Loading the game. Your browser downloads the game from our server. Like any web server it records standard access logs (IP address, time, requested file, browser type), which we use only to keep the service running and secure.
- Update check. While you play, the game occasionally re-downloads its own start page from the same server to see whether a newer version has been released. Nothing about you or your progress is included.
- Visit counting. The game and these pages use Umami, an analytics tool we host ourselves at analytics.dloizides.com. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across sites. It records the page visited, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and an approximate country. Your IP address is used to derive the country and is not stored. No third party receives this data.
- Gameplay events. Through the same Umami install, the game sends a short named event at a few points: when you press "begin" (and whether you were resuming), when the title screen shows, when you open a world (its name), when you start a chamber (the world and chamber names), when you solve, restart or leave a chamber (the chamber name, plus your move count on a solve), and when you change a setting (its name and new value, such as "colour-blind mode: on"). We use them to see where players stop and which chambers are too hard. No event carries a name, email, account, device ID or any of your save data. At most 30 go out per minute.
- Error reports. If the game crashes or fails to start, it sends one event with the error type, a short error message, the game file and line where it happened, and the game's version number. Before sending, it strips web addresses down to the file name, replaces email addresses and long numbers or IDs with placeholders, and cuts the message to 160 characters. The same error is reported once per session, and no more than five error reports go out per minute. Stack traces are never sent.
Blocking analytics.dloizides.com stops all three kinds of counting. The game plays the same without them.
Purchases
When the full game goes on sale, you will buy it through a store (such as Google Play, Steam or the App Store). The store handles payment and shares no card details with us. Its own privacy policy applies to the purchase.
Children
Aurora is a general-audience game. Because it collects no personal information from players, it collects none from children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask to access, correct or erase personal data, object to its use, or complain to the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection. The only personal data we hold is the short-lived server logs described above; write to us and we will answer within one month.
Changes
If what the game stores or sends changes, this page and its date change with it before the new version ships.
